I've always had a personal tie to cancer since my mom was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma before I was born. The cancer was caught at a late stage, was aggressive and had metastasized. The treatments prescribed would not only ravage her body but would also make her unable to have children. She fought and ended up beating the disease and luckily, three years later I was born and have lived a normal life ever since. I owe my life to the fact that my mother beat cancer, something that would not have been possible if not for initiatives that raised funds for research. I have a duty to pay back in a small way the tremendous debt that I owe; and I hope to increase my investment into this initiative in the future. I am so proud to be part of the CIBC 401 Bike Challenge, and I hope that through my cycling career I can help in some way to fight against cancer.
